NTSB summary

On April 30, 2014, about 2215 UTC, a Cessna T210N, Brazilian Registration PR-WCO, registered to and operated by Mineradora Bom Jesus Ltda, collided with trees during a go-around from landing at an airstrip located in Para, Brazil. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed for the foreign business flight from Novo Progresso Airport (SJNP), Para Brazil. The airplane was destroyed by impact and a postcrash fire and the private pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. The flight originated about 45 minutes earlier from SJNP. The estimated time of arrival at the airstrip was supposed to be after sunset, which occurred at 2145 UTC; the airstrip was not prepared for night operations. Witnesses reported that during a go-around from approach to the 1,968 foot-long runway made of slate, the airplane was observed in a steep left bank, followed by an aerodynamic stall, and subsequent collision with trees and terrain resulting in a postcrash fire. Phase and cause come from the NTSB’s own coding of each accident, which only exists from 2008 on, so these two filters leave out 1982–2007. Cause categories are only recorded for some accidents, and early findings can change.
